The American Heart Association, the premiere research and development organization for heart disease and stroke, is looking for a talented individual with experience in sales and management to join our team.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Vice President of Development - Education Sector for Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming. The ideal candidate will lead a team of 5-6 fundraisers who are responsible for managing K-12 accounts throughout Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming. Coaching and developing staff to exceed aggressive fundraising goals are critical competencies along with creating a vision and translating it into specific action plans for each team member.

The selected individual will actively work with each team member to grow existing accounts, secure new ones and expand the volunteer base. As VP, the person will also spend three quarters of time in area schools with the team interacting with teachers, principals, superintendents, and parents. Success will be measured by the ability to leverage relationships into successful fundraising campaigns. Preferred location for the selected candidate is Denver, CO, however consideration will be given to other location within Colorado, New Mexico or Wyoming.

Required Experience
  • At least 2 years experience leading a fundraising or sales team to achieve financial goals
  • At least 4 years experience as a highly successful senior fundraiser OR senior outside sales representive
  • College degree - or some college combined with experience beyond the minimums
  • Experience recruiting, managing new and existing volunteers
  • Experience managing a team across a large geographic area.
  • Experience working in the non-profit industry Knowledge of the educational sector in Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico, a plus
  • Ability and willingness to daily travel up to 50%
  • Ability to work non-standard hours such as early starts and/or late endings to the work day
