Job Summary: The Estimating Manager is a primary member of the estimating team who has overall responsibility for managing the Estimating team and working with both customers and sales to provide accurate quotes.  The Estimating Manager is also responsible for the oversight of the entire estimating process, as well as oversite of standardized procedures, methods and processes for quoting for specific division(s).


Essential Functions:
  • Prepare accurate pricing of estimates with the proper level of detail, including labor, material and subcontract items.
  • Responsible for working with and training the estimating team to provide timely and accurate quotes for customers.
  • Manage employees' time off requests, conduct annual/mid-year performance evaluations and provide applicable discipline when necessary.
  • Monitor team performance, hold employees accountable for meeting defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and give consistent and constructive feedback to team when necessary.
  • Assist in development of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the estimating team.
  • Potential to be flexible with schedule, working with clients in multiple time zones, which also may include weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in a team environment.

Technical Competencies:
  • Possesses a great attention to detail, while also possessing the ability to quickly address customer issues.
  • Capability to work with a computerized sales system (SalesForce / CRM preferred).
  • Ability to clearly communicate customer expectations (requests) into a request for quote (RFQ).
  • Ability to read blueprints & understanding of measurement equipment.
  • Familiarity of computer design software such as CAD, SolidWorks, etc.
  • Ability to understand and utilize management reports, memo, and other documents to conduct business.

Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • BA/BS preferred
  • 5 years' of people management experience
  • Previous experience in the prototyping industry preferred
Work Hours/Travel:
  • Standard schedule Monday - Friday with a minimum of 8 hours per day
  • Occasionally requires irregular schedule/overtime
  • Flexible schedule possible in agreement with supervisor
