Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
  • Use specialized knowledge of local winds, weather, water depths, tides, currents, and hazards avoiding other marine traffic, reefs, outlying shoals, and other hazards to operating boat/barge
  • Load and transport assorted pieces of equipment, supplies, and materials
  • Steer boats/barges into and out of berths
  • Properly and safely fender, moor, and anchor boat/barge
  • Prevent boat/barge under navigational control from engaging in unsafe operations
  • Consult maps, charts, weather reports, and navigation equipment to determine and direct workboat/barge movements
  • Give directions to crew members
  • Maintain any required logs
  • Operate ship-to-shore radios to exchange information needed for ship operations
  • Provide assistance in maritime rescue operations
  • Outfit and maintain proper safety equipment
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications/ Requirements:
  • 5-7 years of relevant construction experience
  • Towing Endorsement License for 200 ton
