Overview

The Director of R&D Finance is a key member of Alnylam's Finance Business Partner team, working with business leaders across the organization. This role will provide financial leadership to the company's external partnerships and collaborations and it will also provide support related to the forecasting of the company's Collaboration and Royalty Revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide finance leadership for the company's alliances on both recurring deliverables (budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, etc.) and ad hoc efforts working in close partnership with R&D expertise areas, program teams, Alliance Management and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track potential strategic and operational financial risks related to the company's alliances, clearly and pro-actively surface these issues, and partner with the appropriate internal stakeholders to address problem areas.
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting for Collaboration and Royalty Revenue. Develop associated materials to be shared with key internal stakeholders including the CFO as well as the Board of Directors.
  • Develop and maintain tools and processes that can support the group's current needs while also being able to scale for future growth.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on opportunities to enhance or improve existing processes and reporting for Alliance Finance and Collaboration and Royalty Revenue, successfully implementing changes where appropriate.
  • Develop strong relationships with key members of Global Finance organization and support special projects and ad hoc analyses as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or other degrees with quantitative focus (e.g. Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics), business and business insights (e.g. MBA) preferred.
  • Must have 8+ years work experience in a combination of FP&A, accounting, valuation and/or other strategic finance roles
  • Must have 4+ years of work experience in biotech / pharma industry, R&D experience required
  • Prior experience providing financial support to external partnerships and collaborations strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to pivot between high-level strategic discussions and operationally executing on deliverables
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with multiple functions and with stakeholders of various levels of seniority
  • Proven ability to work with a high level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Maintain a positive, flexible, client-service attitude with business teams
