This Float Teacher will be responsible for:
  • Establishing the classroom environment that promotes the health, safety and well-being of all children in the group daily.
  • Operating with the standard that all BCH, EEC, and center policies are adhered to daily. Establishes healthy breakfast and snacks for the children in the group while addressing food allergies per Individual Health Care Plans and family dietary restrictions daily.
  • Adhering to diapering/toileting policies per the Department of Early Education and Care policies and procedures daily.
  • Intentionally promoting equity and inclusion daily by making intentional teaching decisions while implementing curriculum.
  • Implementing planned curriculum by collecting toys and materials throughout the building to set up and open the classroom daily.
  • Developing and maintaining trusting relationships with children daily by engaging in intentional play and actions, building relationships with each child in all classrooms supported while dependent on changing weekly float schedule.
  • Developing each child's executive function to allow children to manage their thoughts, emotions, and behavior as they pursue goals daily. These include attention, working memory, self- regulation, reasoning, problem solving and approaches to learning.
  • Reporting to team unusual or extreme behavior which may indicate emotional, developmental or physical problems as it happens. Helping to implement interventions for children with extra needs as needed.
  • Maintaining annual professional qualifications registration with DEEC. Complete 20 hours of professional development annually with a 25% focus on special needs.
  • Attending monthly staff meetings in accordance with DEEC regulations.
  • Completing mandatory Background record check every 3 years including CORI, SORI, DCF, and fingerprinting.
  • Communicating daily with parents reporting about each individual child's day through written daily notes and spoken words (infant - Preschool).
  • Maintaining flexibility while supporting classroom teaching teams and children in each classroom (infant-preschool) weekly. Supporting and collaborating with various teaching teams weekly to understand schedule, routine, individual child needs (such as Individual Health Care Plans and dietary restrictions), and any changes pertinent to your duties

To qualify, you must have:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • One year relevant experience.
  • D.E.E.C Infant Teacher Certified
  • First Aid/CPR Certified
