This Phlebotomist will be responsible for:
  • Completes order entry of tests into the LIS. Gathers and documents necessary clinical information. Refers questions regarding information to appropriate clinician.
  • Selects appropriate venous puncture site based on knowledge of pathophysiology. Performs phlebotomy for collection of blood for clinical and research testing.
  • Monitors individuals to ensure comfort, safety and adequate blood flow. Monitors individuals for adverse reactions.
  • Selects and prepares collection tubes/containers, paperwork, labels and forms. Has knowledge of testing requirements for clinical tests including special handling requirements.
  • Monitors and stock supplies. Notifies appropriate staff when re order levels are reached.
  • Provides positive customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations. Performs and records quality control measures to insure accurate equipment performance, making and documenting necessary adjustments. Participates in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Contributes to the teamwork within and between departments and organizations.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A High School level of education or its equivalent(GED).
  • Current certification as a Phlebotomist by a national certifying agency (eg. ASCP) is preferred.
  • Ability to perform heelstick, fingerstick and venipunctures on patients of all ages.
  • Previous pediatrics experience is strongly preferred.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, organizational and computer skills necessary to interact with patients and their families.

Shift/hours:

  • Monday-Friday: 9:00am-5:30pm(when the employee is not Floating, w/ rotating weekends and holidays.
  • Boston Campus and Satellite locations(Martha Eliot, 2 Brookline Place, 333 Longwood, Fegan, Peabody, Lexington, Waltham, Weymouth and North Dartmouth)

**This position is eligible for an Employee Referral Bonus of $1,500.00.**
