The Corporate Counsel is part of the Legal team and will report to the Director of Legal and Compliance. This role is responsible for providing sound legal advice across a variety of areas, including contract review and negotiation, risk analysis for business initiatives, and research and advice in areas of the law impacting a global consumer packaged goods company and agricultural cooperative. Primary duties include providing legal advice and guidance to the global Human Resources Team with a focus on labor and employment matters and Employee Relations, and to the Tech team with a focus on data privacy, compliance with emerging laws related to cybersecurity, technology and applications. This role will also be responsible for broad support of Compliance initiatives for the company including but not limited to, mandatory compliance training, Conflicts of Interest management, Policy management, and Code of Conduct and Ethics.

The position will be a hybrid between remote & onsite work based in Lakeville, MA

A Day in the Life...

  • Responsible for a variety of legal projects, including contract review and negotiation, risk analysis for business initiatives, research and advice in areas of the law impacting a global consumer packaged goods company and agricultural cooperative.
  • Works collaboratively with and provides legal advice to cross-functional teams within the company on diverse topics, including business transactions, litigation and other disputes, labor/employment matters, and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Work as a legal advisor to a variety of business teams, which will include Human Resources, IT/Tech and Compliance.
  • Support the Company's Compliance initiatives, in particular, mandatory compliance training, Conflicts of Interest management, Policy management, and Code of Conduct and Ethics.
  • Serve as the day-to-day Legal support for HR and Tech teams, providing legal advice and guidance to each team as needed, which may include contract review and negotiation, risk analysis for business initiatives, and research and advice in areas of the law impacting those business teams.
  • Work will also include specific project support for the HR and Tech teams as relevant and necessary for legal partnership and will focus on continuous improvement for policies, processes and procedures across business units.

Education:

Juris Doctor (Required)
