Boston Children's Hospital Autism Language Program (ALP) is seeking a full-time ASHA Certified Speech-Language Pathologist with Massachusetts Licensing or license qualified who specializes in Augmentative and Alternative Communication with a focus on autism. This is NOT a Clinical Fellowship Position

The Speech and Language Pathologist II will be responsible for:

  • Performs communication evaluations, including tests of comprehension, production, and motor speech functioning.
  • Interviews and counsel families and patients regarding communication disorders.
  • Plans and implements case management, follow up, and referral for patients.
  • Documents and reports the results of communication evaluations.
  • Contributes to teamwork within own department and other departments.
  • Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Conducting AAC related research and/or developing AAC related projects within the scope of this clinical position is encouraged.
  • Clinicians in the ALP are strongly encouraged to develop their own areas of clinical interest related to assessment and intervention that supports the mission of the program.
  • Work requires the analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data to solve problems OR design relatively complex systems and programs.
  • Work requires communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views.

To qualify, you must have:

  • ASHA Certification in Speech-Language Pathology, Massachusetts SLP license or license qualified.
  • The appropriate candidate has extensive experience in evaluation and treatment of autistic individuals with complex communication needs.
  • Candidate has a minimum of two years of clinical experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of current assistive technology and no-tech to high tech solutions is required in addition to understanding a broad scope of strategies to support functional communication and language learning for persons with ASD.

Additional information:

This position will require working one Saturday per month in clinic with possibility of expanding Saturday coverage in the future.
Position will be at the Waltham outpatient clinic location with potential future expansion to Brookline or other satellite sites.
