Operator in Training
Woonsocket, RI
3+ Months

Schedule --
The work days Monday - Friday 7a-3p are for training purposes. When the candidate gets on their overnight shift it will be 7P-7A Wednesday night - Friday Night, and every other Saturday Night.

Licensure and/or Certification
  • Possess a valid Driver's License
  • Must be working toward a Rhode Island Grade I Wastewater Certification and receive certification within 12 mos. from assignment date.

Responsibilities:
  • Under the direction of a certified Wastewater Operator, performs tasks associated with the operations of a water or wastewater facility.
  • Learns and gains skill in a variety of equipment maintenance, servicing, and operating tasks.
  • Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent
  • Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels
  • Observes and reports abnormalities to Certified Operator
  • Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control, starts and stops pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes
  • Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings
  • Takes and records readings produced from the operation of equipment
  • Takes samples and performs routine process laboratory tests and analysis under supervision of certified operator
  • Daily and punctual attendance in the office and/or job site or off-site locations is required
  • This position may be required to be available on an on-call basis for emergencies
  • Travel between work locations is required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or possession of a GED Certificate
