ERG seeks an experienced professional in the sustainability and circular economy fields with expertise in topics such as solid waste and sustainable materials management, life cycle assessment, food waste, e-waste, and battery recycling, plastic pollution prevention and recycling, and climate change mitigation strategies to support federal and state government programs and policies.

The job location is flexible, with a preference for the ability to occasionally be in our offices in Concord, MA, Boston, MA, or Arlington, VA, with an option for remote work and hoteling.
Job Description:
  • As a circular economy analyst, you will be responsible for a range of research tasks, including evaluating circular economy policy and technology options related to food waste, critical minerals for the energy transition, and plastic pollution
  • Day to day activities include analyzing and presenting waste and sustainability data metrics and trends; characterizing trends; generating tables, charts, and other visualizations; and writing guidance documents, technical reports, and policy briefs
  • You may support the development of web-based tools
  • Additionally, you may support program and event communications and outreach, including virtual and in-person event logistics
  • You will work with a broad range of subject matter experts and interface with clients
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, science, or engineering Master's degree in related field a plus
  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the sustainability and circular economy topic areas outlined above
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including attention to detail and customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a manner that is understandable to a variety of audiences
  • Creativity and innovation, with the ability to generate fresh and compelling ideas for different formats and channels
  • Strong analytical and data management skills are desired, including fluency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word, and other programs, including but not limited to Slido and ArcGIS
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Knowledge and interest in current environmental issues, trends, and best practices
