Job Description
The Sr. Payroll Analyst is primarily responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll for all employees in the US and Canada, with additional oversight for employees in Germany handled by a third-party vendor. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll administration and compliance, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Ensure precise calculations of earnings (including overtime & bonuses) and deductions.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, People Systems & Analytics to manage and update employee data related to payroll.
  • Ensure the accurate calculation and timely remittance of payroll taxes, including federal, state, local and provincial deductions.
  • Maintain organized and confidential payroll records.
  • Conduct regular audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure timely and accurate reporting to assist in monthly close activities.
  • Point-person for all time off/absence related inquiries and ensuring employee's time off profiles are accurately maintained in Workday.
  • Stay up to date with federal, state, local and provincial labor laws, ensuring that payroll processes align with legal requirements.
  • Assist with annual audit activities and proactively maintain effective internal controls.
  • Generate reports on an as needed basis in collaboration with the People Team.
  • Support the Head of Total Rewards with the file maintenance, reporting and processing of the company's Long-Term Incentive (LTI) plan.
  • Provide excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries, resolving issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support the People team with other initiatives as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience processing payroll.
  • Experience managing multi-entity payrolls including exempt and non-exempt populations.
  • Expertise with ADP Workforce Now.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll-related federal, state, local and provincial law and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented with a history of highly accurate work.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and use discretion.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality as it pertains to sensitive employee and company information, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred
  • Experience in the Life Sciences/Biotech industry.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or similar.
  • Experience managing global payroll, specifically for US and Canada populations.
  • Experience using Workday.
