Abacus Technology is seeking a Sr. Hardware Engineer to provide technical support for storage, backup, and server solutions at Hanscom AFB. This is a full-time position.

Install, configure, and troubleshoot server infrastructure and provide customer support for storage/backup/server services.
• Ensure infrastructures are compliant with applicable directives, publications, and/or guidelines as governed by external DoD agencies in both unclassified and classified environments.
• Provide daily administration and management of a highly available SAN, server, backup infrastructure supporting over 5000+ users.
• Participate in system maintenance, optimization, and performance activities of the SAN, server, and backup infrastructure.
• Design, configure, install, implement, monitor, troubleshoot hardware and operating systems on server/backup/storage infrastructure.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Install new and rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media are recycled and sent off site as necessary.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities, install and configure systems that supports server related applications.
• Proactively identify, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve system problems, perform firmware upgrades, hardware and software installations.
• Coordinate and closely work with other IT operation teams.

8+ years experience in SAN, virtualization, backup, and server infrastructure. Bachelor's degree in a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree requirements. Must be Security+ certified. Microsoft Windows Server and/or VMWare certification desired. Hands-on experience in enterprise virtualized platforms, storage, backup, and server solutions that will increase performance and flexibility to existing infrastructure in accordance with AF Server infrastructure policies and standards. Experience with administration of Microsoft Windows 2012/2016/2019 and VMWare. Experience with VDI infrastructure (Nutanix, ProfileUnity, FlexApps, Stratusphere, Horizon View, VMWare, etc.). Experience with Linux Operating Systems is desired. Hands-on experience in IBM Array, tape library, and Veeam backup system. Experience in installation, configuration, troubleshooting of Domain Controller, DNS, and Active Directory. Knowledge of SAN switches, Print Services, DHCP, and server infrastructure monitoring tools. Strong server debugging and troubleshooting skills required. Able to work dynamically and effectively with people on projects (formal and informal) and conduct technical interchanges as required. Knowledge in scripting tools such as PowerShell or Python desirable. Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Critical thinking skills for problem identification and resolution. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to lift and move 50+lbs. Able to work outside normal business hours to support planned projects or emergencies as needed. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
