Oversees the administrative and financial operations of the Division of Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics. Inclusive of research, teaching, and clinical missions. Plans, staffs, monitors, and problem solves these areas in cooperation with other Hospital personnel, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. Partners with departmental and divisional leadership including VP pediatric services, Division Chief, Associate Chief and Practice Administrator, who is responsible for management of the division's ambulatory clinic operations.

This Division Director will be responsible to:

  • Supervises all division administrative/research staff, with the exception of ambulatory clinic personnel. Interviews, hires, orients, trains, and disciplines staff as necessary. Organizes work and work processes. Gives annual performance appraisals and determines amount of merit increase, ensuring adherence to CHB Human Resources guidelines.
  • Supervises processing of faculty and fellow hospital and medical school appointment applications. Works with appropriate departmental and hospital staff to ensure accurate and timely submissions. Ensures compliance with all applicable policies
  • Prepares and monitors research, training grant, foundation, and general fund budgets. Develops capital budget in consultation with chief and clinical chief for submission to the hospital
  • Develops recording and bookkeeping procedures for all funds. Performs reconciliation of monthly reports and follow-up with faculty and/or staff as warranted. Authorizes all expenditures utilizing funds under their control
  • Assists in the production of grant submissions in consultation with principal investigators. Partners with funding agencies and research administration to ensure that the policies of the awarding agencies and Hospital/Research Administration are followed
  • Performs administrative functions for chief. Serves as liaison to various Hospital departments, other internal entities, division faculty and staff, external professional organizations and regulatory agencies. Prepares division summary for Department of Pediatrics (DoP) Annual Report
  • Works with the Chief, Associate Chief, or other staff to create, implement, and monitor the division's strategic plan
  • Note: This position description documents one of four Division Manager positions. While the principle duties are essentially similar for all three, they are distinguished by the complexity of the divisional operations, as evidenced by the total number of clinical staff, the number of employees managed, business operations of the division as evidenced by total budget responsibilities including hospital/general fund budgets, Foundation budgets, research operations (restricted, discretionary, and endowments), and complexity/numbers of satellite operations

To qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field and 8 years experience required
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to solve complex problems in the areas of clinical and research operations, financial management, marketing and planning, personnel management and information systems
  • Hybrid/remote - onsite required
