Description

The Accounting Assistant assists the Accounting Manager and is primarily responsible for the day to day processing of transactions in the A/P and A/R systems.
Position Specific Responsibilities
  • Producing sales invoices to be mailed to the customer; cancelling and filing paid invoices; researching customer service issues; issuing credits when necessary.
  • Entering vendor invoices into accounting system, which includes checking the invoices against the packing lists and the internal PO; obtaining budget manager approval on purchased items and allocating the invoice to the correct budget; dealing with various vendors; cancelling and fling paid invoices.
  • Preparing various charts in Excel, updating monthly, for Accounting, Operations, Production and other departments.
  • Maintaining subsidiary ledgers for a variety of accounts.
  • Maintaining petty cash fund and preparing monthly reconciliation.
  • General accounting work: filing, copying, vendor contact, customer contact, writing letters, and researching as needed.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • General understanding of business and accounting.
  • Related experience in an office environment desirable.
  • Intermediate level in MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel and ERP software (Epicor preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills and attentive to detail.
