JOB MISSION:

The Assistant Global Merchandising Manager is responsible for the art and science of retail format merchandising from a global business unit perspective. Partner with the GBU creation teams & marketing leads to build product assortments that achieve the commercial goals & and satisfies the brand ambition within mono branded NB retail environments. Define the global and regional market place capacities informed by data from the business analysts and consumer insights from the research teams. This role is base at New Balance Boston headquarters.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Own the preparation and distribution of global DTC product assortments.
  • Help drive a segmentation strategy to differentiate product assortments across retail formats
  • Partner with global category merchants to ensure consistent execution across product segments including running, lifestyle, field of play and kids
  • Leverage both quantitative and qualitative inputs to refine the global DTC range
  • Partner cross functionally with visual merchandising and marketing to ensure consistent execution of assortments across all owned retail footprints
  • Run reports to analyze retail performance to optimize shape/share/mix of product in NB retail doors.
  • Ensure cohesive head to toe apparel connectivity alongside the global apparel merchants
  • Participate in, observe and help to drive quarterly DTC buy reviews with regional merchandising teams

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Bachelor's degree required, with 1-2+ years of industry experience preferably in footwear and/or merchandising
  • Ability to balance and rationalize objective and subjective points of view and opinions
  • Have a strong background of analytics and product / marketplace & consumer knowledge, art & science, posses data and creative skills
  • Sophisticated communicator, able to clearly present and negotiate with multiple regions, cultures and areas of expertise at all levels
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are essential
  • Attend where possible select market milestones in order to gain and maintain a strong global perspective. ( budget and time dependent )
  • Familiarity with systems including VibeIQ and Mural is helpful
  • Travel required
