Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Installation, corrective and preventative maintenance, of production and building equipment
  • Troubleshooting and repairing of production and building equipment
  • Production support with changeover, product set-up and start-up
  • On-call support of off-shift production as assigned.
  • Requisition (as directed) and replenishment of machine/equipment consumables and spares
  • Interact with production supervision and staff to ensure the timely flow of required information
  • Documentation of equipment maintenance performed
  • Housekeeping and organization of the work area
  • Safety- Consistently adheres to all company safety policies and procedures including adherence to PPE requirements and reporting of near misses / accidents in a timely manner to the Supervisor or Safety Coordinator.
  • Quality- Consistently adheres to quality policies / procedures and produce quality work, which meets or exceeds both internal and external stakeholder requirements.
  • Productivity- Consistently meets production expectations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Teamwork- Consistently demonstrate respect for all stakeholders in the business and work productively and respectfully with others towards team and company goals

Qualifications/Characteristics

Knowledge:

  • Mechanical assembly, proper fit and alignment of mechanical components.
  • Basic understanding of electricity and electrical wiring as it relates to machinery and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of NEC/NFPA Electrical Code.
  • Basic knowledge in operation, maintenance and repair of physical plant electrical equipment for lighting, power, and HVAC
  • Basic understanding of rigging / millwright practices
  • Familiar with MSDS and their use
  • Proper use of safety and personal protective equipment.

Skills

  • Troubleshoot, diagnosis and repair of electro-mechanical equipment
  • Experience with mechanic's hand and power tools, small equipment, and basic machining operations (milling, tapping, honing, etc.)
  • Electrical wiring of industrial, production, and plant equipment in accordance with blueprints, manuals, and building codes
  • Safe operation of powered lifting equipment
  • Experience working with 480 volt services preferred, but not essential
  • Safe operation of powered lifting equipment
  • Work from prints, schematics and electrical control drawings
  • Good blueprint, sketch, layout, wiring diagram, drawing & specification creation/interpretation skills.
  • Math skills consistent with position requirements
  • Basic blueprint, sketch, layout, wiring diagram, drawing & specification interpretation skills.
  • Basic use of precision measuring tools
  • Basic computer skills. Ability to learn basic MS Outlook/Word/Excel functions, PM program use and SAP transactions.

Abilities:

  • Good hand -- eye coordination, manual dexterity and electro-mechanical aptitude
  • Capable of working independent of supervision under own initiative
  • Understand and follow training materials, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Familiar with MSDS and their use
  • Proper use of safety and personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. to shoulder height
  • Good attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • 20/20 vision either corrected or without correction

Working Conditions

Indoor production environment, work outside may be required, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures. Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts. Ability to work 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations required, overtime dependent on business need.

Physical requirements

Frequent repetitive hand movements, using hand tools -- pliers, sanders, scissors, etc
Frequently remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time
Frequently move about the facility indoors as well as outdoors to make repairs, etc...
Constantly positions self to repair/build equipment and/or facility
Frequently ascends/descends a ladder to service equipment and/or complete a building repair
Must be able to detect equipment issues and assess for repairs
Regularly move tools and equipment up to >25 lbs.
