The Human Milk Specialist (HMS) performs procedures under the supervision of the Nursing Director, dietician and staff nurses. HMS provides support to the milk room in the form of identification, preparation, storage and dispensing of breast milk for enteral feedings. The HMS organizes supplies necessary to complete tasks in the milk room. Although supervised, the HMS proceeds alone on routine tasks asking for clarification when needed.
Provides Support to the Milk Room and Nurseries in the SCN(Special Care Nursery).
Prepares and checks equipment/supplies and utilized resources and materials in a safe and efficient manner:
Reports any irregularity to Resource Nurse immediately:
Communicates and collaborates with other members of the health care team:
Bachelor's Degree in nutrition/dietary preferred.
Experience working in a hospital environment preferred.
