The Role:

Data is one of Beazley's greatest assets. As a Data Product Owner you will be responsible for owning a portfolio of data products and developing the capabilities required to support your customers. You drive use of data by various teams across Beazley and are responsible for new and improved curated datasets and insights that enhance business decision making and value delivery across functional teams. You will also work to mature data literacy and capabilities as Beazley undertakes a significant investment in modernization, enabling you to embed a culture of data excellence in our data products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a Product Owner for data across Beazley, collaborate with stakeholders from across the business to understand their data needs and build a roadmap to deliver datasets and insights.

  • Manage a portfolio of Data Products and stakeholder relationships.

  • Working with the business and analysts, understand and document requirements for your data products, building features in Jira and maintaining a backlog of future opportunities.

  • Inspire and motivate analysts and the delivery team with your vision for data product development, providing feedback on value and stakeholder impact.

  • Represent the business in data governance discussions, escalating issues as appropriate.

  • Ensure that data product development considers policy, methodology and standards, and ensure these are adhered to during product development.

  • Evaluate the performance of your data product portfolio against KPIs defined by the business and provide feedback on the value delivered.

  • Collaborate, document and share knowledge with other Product and Delivery team memberss on reuseable components, accelerators and shared frameworks to reduce duplicate effort.

  • Devise and monitor appropriate metrics to measure capacity and output from the team in accordance with the stakeholder and CDO strategy.

  • Devise innovative process solutions to increase the efficiency of the team and identify opportunities for adding value within the business.

  • Provide leadership, direction, development and support to direct reports (including off-shore resources).

  • Develop awareness of market initiatives regarding your stakeholder, representing Beazley, as appropriate, on internal / external committees.

Personal Specification:

We're looking for candidates with experience of owning and developing data products that enable the easy reuse of data, reporting, operations and intelligence. Someone who brings strong technical skills and who is used to partnering with stakeholders and delivery teams, whilst collaborating across the organisation is key. We are looking for someone who can innovate, who knows how to encourage performance, and motivate peers and the wider organisation to embrace the opportunities presented by data analysis.

The successful candidate should have a passion for data and a curious mindset both for Beazley and the wider insurance industry. Great communication skills across all levels of seniority and the ability to represent Data internally and externally to our colleagues and clients.

Skills and Abilities:

A strategic and curious mindset to devise prioritized roadmap of data opportunities

Understanding of information flows within an Insurance Company (especially Property and Casualty). from marketing and sales, Risk and Quality, finance as well as how information is used for reporting

Use of statistical tools to identify, analyse, and interpret patterns and trends in data sets

A keen eye and attention to detail in order to review datasets or dashboards for quality and testing

Able to identify opportunities for improvements to existing processes and for new reporting

Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise

Stakeholder management and ability to communicate concisely at a number of levels

Understands insurance principles and strategic drivers

Knowledge and Experience:

Experience working with Insurance data, and in particular a strong understanding of pipeline intelligence for sales growth/ targeting and performance

Strong experience with Power BI to deliver reporting solutions and dashboards that enhance business decision making

  • Managing user experience / dashboards design
  • Implementing security
  • Implementing integration
  • Performing solutions deployment and testing
  • Creating and configuring Power Apps

Experience working with stakeholders, business analysts, data analysts, data architects, data modelers, data engineers and testers.

Skills in data engineering technologies like Kafka, Snowflake / Snowpark, DataBricks, Jira and Agile principles

Experience in managing and manipulating large internal and external datasets

Use of various business analysis and project management tools covering scope definition, requirements documentation and progress reporting

Knowledge of relational and dimensional database structures, theories, principles, and practices

Excellent analytical skills across descriptive and/or predictive analytics

Proven team player with ability to work with all levels in a highly intellectual, collaborative, and fast paced environment

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor them appropriately for different audiences, technical backgrounds, and seniority

Salary for this role will be tailored to the successful individual's location and experience. The expected compensation range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year plus discretionary annual bonus.
