The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician's area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments, questions to the appropriate management person, and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.
A Bariatric Surgeon will:
- Perform patient evaluations to determine eligibility for bariatric surgery, considering medical history, current health status, and psychological readiness.
- Discuss potential risks, benefits, and outcomes of different bariatric procedures with patients, addressing their concerns and questions with compassion and expertise.
- Perform bariatric surgeries, including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric banding, and revisional procedures, employing advanced surgical techniques.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of nutritionists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients before and after surgery.
- Monitor patients' progress during post-operative recovery and conduct follow-up appointments to assess weight loss, address any complications, and provide ongoing support.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in bariatric surgery techniques, attending conferences and participating in relevant professional development activities.
- Help provide education and counseling to patients on lifestyle changes, dietary modifications, and exercise routines to support long-term success.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and protocols.
